 behind the hue

"Hue" defined

The "hue" we see is dependent on the wavelength of light being reflected or produced. It's a term which describes a dimension we experience when we look at a color, or its purest form. So why "the human hue"? Just like the many shades of red—burgundy to crimson—each of us has a unique hue that defines our personality. In the spectrum of individuality...

. . .  what hue are you?

in
each
perspective there's a different story

I've been carrying around a camera since I was a little girl. I remember taking my collection of small yellow disposable Kodak's to the store, putting them each into their own white envelope with my name on the front and then waiting for what seemed like forever to admire the stack of 3x5's that I was always so proud of. I took pictures of everything...

...the flower that crept up through the cracks in my driveway...

...the elderly woman riding her bike past my front window with her scarf trailing behind her but never quite falling away...

I would show my treasures to anyone with the time to look. Deep down I knew they always wondered..."now why would she take a picture of that? She doesn't even know that lady." (or something to that effect)...but I didn't care. They didn't see them like I did. In the flower I saw something fragile and small defying the odds. I saw the expression on the woman's face, calm and enjoying the soft breeze that cooled the sun on her face. To me, my photos weren't just pictures...they each told a story.

     The reason I'm a photographer...

I want to help people tell their stories, show their strength, their calm, love, pride, happiness or excitement. If that shutter snaps just right......

.....I can leave them with a tale of who they are in that moment, a memory frozen in time.
